GUWAHATI: Assam Survey and Settlement Training Centre (ASSTC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the North-East Space Application Centre (NESAC) for five years for improvement of land record management in the state.
Jogen Mohan, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for revenue and disaster management hailed NESAC for coming forward in this connection.
He informed the gathering about the three major components of the MoU, which include, free of cost certificate and diploma courses by NESAC at ASSTC for producing trained individuals in order to generate employment, updated GIS-based technology usage for better land management and conducting research projects, seminars, workshops, etc., in the field of modern land management.
The Minister also reiterated that the government is committed to turning ASSTC into a centre of excellence, which has a long chequered history since its inception in 1882 and now stands as a Heritage Department.
The signatories of the MoU were Principal of ASSTC Pankaj Chakravarty and Director of NESAC PLN Raju.
