Assam-Nagaland Border Issue: Economic blockade lifted after 25 days

Mokokchung, Dec. 09,2020: The ongoing economic blockade on National Highway 702D (Mariani-Mokokchung road) imposed by Assam-based organisations in connection with Assam-Nagaland border issue has been lifted on Wednesday evening, said Mokokchung district administration on Wednesday.

The Longtho Police Station OC, Imcha, informed that the blockade was lifted at 5:30 pm on Wednesday.

Assam based organizations had imposed economic blockade for last twenty-five days.

Meanwhile, the Tzurangkong Range Naga Youth Front official informed that they will not lift the blockade (from Nagaland side) unless an assurance is conveyed from the concerned authority.

The source said they have verbally conveyed to the Assam Police Force stationed at Aosenden village jurisdiction to vacate the temporary camp from the Nagaland side at the earliest.

They also warned that if this demand is not fulfilled, the Tzurangkong Range public will initiate its own course of action for which the public of  Tzurangkong would not be held accountable for any untoward incident.
