Guwahati: Assam Police on Tuesday arrested 2 people for extorting money in the name of former ULFA leader Jiten Dutta and Kalpa Jyoti Neog.
The accused have been identified as Raju Das and Pranab Bhuyan who were arrested from Hotel Atithi. The duo was in the said hotel to collect the extortion money when police nabbed them.
According to police, both the accused were allegedly involved in extortion activities and has demanded money from several businessmen in the area.
The accused used to send letters to people demanding money in the name of ULFA.
The police seized several letters from them and an investigation in underway.
