Imphal, Oct 30,2020: Assam Rifles recovered smuggled goods from Manipur along the Indo-Myanmar border on October 30.

After receiving a specific input pertaining to cache of contraband items, an operation was launched by the troops of Assam Rifles in Songyang village, Chandel district, IGAR(S) said in a press release. The troops carried out extensive search in the jungles near New Songyang village and recovered 5,000 packets of Imported Chinese WIN cigarettes and 400 Kg of Indonesian Areca nuts hidden inside thick vegetation worth Rs 8.45 lakh, IGAR(S) said.

Recovered items have been handed over to Custom Office Pallel for further legal action.

Recovered items has been handed over to district police.
