GUWAHATI: A truck driver from Assam has been shot dead in Dimapur, Nagaland in wee hours of Tuesday, police revealed.
The deceased was identified as Jiten Gogoi (31), who was a resident of Dhemaji in Assam, was shot near the IMC Hall. According to reports, Gogoi was shot from a close range with a .22 pistol and there were two gunshot wounds on the body.
The body was recovered by police around 7 am and was sent for post-mortem.
Public relations officer of Dimapur Police said that, those behind the incident are yet to be identified. A case has been registered at the West police station and an investigation is underway, police said.
