Imphal, December 16 2020: A team of the Central Bureau of Investigation’s Anti-Corruption Bureau, Imphal Branch carried out a raid at the residence of a Senior Account Officer of the office of Principal Accountant General (A&E) Manipur today. CBI conducted the raid at Senior Account officer Naorem Budhichandra residence at at Uripok Ahanthem Leikai.
The CBI Anti-Corruption Bureau, Imphal West had registered an FIR against him under Prevention of Corruption 2 days ago.
This is second raid on Account General’s official in less than 2 months. Earlier on October 23, 2020, another official of Account General Manipur was raided.
In a case of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, CBI conducted the raid who originally hails from Kakching district in Manipur. The raid was still on till the time of filing this report and hence no official report about any seizure could be obtained.
N Budhichandra had joined service on August 5, 1988 as a Clerk.
The FIR against him alleged that he had acquired huge assets both moveable and immoveable during the period from January 2010 to October 2020 in his name and members of his family amounting to Rs 1,11,85,111 .
His monthly salary during the period of January 2010 to October 2020 amounts to only Rs 68,64,581 .
The computation of assets disproportionate to known sources of income comes to the extent of Rs 54,42,269 which N Budhichandra could not satisfactorily account for, alleged the FIR.
Apart from three vehicles, the the Central Investigating agency also recovered hard cash of Rs 5 lakh, gold ornaments worth Rs 15 lakh and other incriminating documents showing purchase of homestead land/paddy land at Keinou, construction of three-storied building, investments in LIC, Banks and other Financial Institutions.
