Dzuko Wildfire: Nagaland body files FIR against suspected trekkers

Kohima, Jan. 12,2021: The Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) has filed a first information report (FIR) against a group of trekkers suspected to be behind the outbreak of the Dzuko Valley fire on December 29.

The FIR was lodged at Khuzama police station under Kohima district and provided video clips of trekkers trespassing Dzuko Valley.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that scores of personnel from National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Nagaland Police and Army personnel had left Dzuko base camp on Tuesday after successfully dousing the inferno which raged for 13 days and reduced a vast area near the valley to ashes.

However according to reports, SAYO volunteers and some personnel from Kohima Forest Division (KFD) are still camping in Dzuko to keep a close vigil of the vicinity.
