Imphal, May 30, 2022: A powerful bomb suspected to be IED explosion at Thoubal killed 1 labourer. Four other labourer were also injured in the powerful explosion.
Incident happened early morning today at around 1.30 AM at a community hall in Thoubal Sapam Mayai Leikai under Thoubal district. According to the sources, the deceased and injured people are construction workers staying at the community. The workers were engaged for the construction of water treatment plant under the Public Health and Engineering department, Thoubal Division , Government of Manipur. They were engage by the contractors Koya constructions, Hyderabad.
As per police source, the deceased has been identified as Pankaj Mahato, 21 from Khariatabad, West Bengal, while the injured persons were identified as Aroop Mandal (30) South 24 Parganas District, West Bengal; Souvik Patra(18) from North 24 Parganas, West Bengal; Aporva Mandal(25) from South 24 Parganas; and Rajesh Ramaanik (19).
They were evacuated to Thoubal District Hospital where the deceased breathed his last and the injured persons were later referred to JNIMS in Imphal, police source said.
A case has been registered at Khongjom PS for further necessary action.
