Imphal, August 23 2022: Manipur’s GI tagged aromatic black rice locally known as Chak-hao will soon be sold in select retail outlets at Delhi. A consignment with two metric tonnes of aromatic black rice Chak-hao was flagged off for New Delhi by the officials of the Manipur’s Agriculture department.

The product will be sold in SIMFED’s (Sikkim State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation) retail outlets in Delhi.
The consignment was flagged off after Qseal Agritech Private Limited, New Delhi and Chak-hao Poireiton Organic Producer Company Limited, a farmer producer company signed a trade agreement yesterday.
Qseal is a business partner of Sikkim State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd (SIMFED Ltd), which is a service provider company of MOVCDNER.
Additional Agriculture Director of Agriculture , Government of Manipur said that SIMFED has agreed to procure 10 MT of black rice from Chak-hao Poireiton Organic Producer Company Limited this year.
Existing consignment of two metric tonnes of aromatic black rice Chak-hao would be taken to New Delhi by train from Dimapur.
Senior consultant of SIMFED Ltd C Mohanty said that he is happy to work with the farmers in Manipur under MOVCDNER and added that their objective is to popularise aromatic black rice and current consignment of 2 MT is only the first step, he added that SIMFED has many retail chains and networks in New Delhi.
