Imphal, September 22 2020: In Manipur, 270 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the last 24 hours while the recovery rate further declined. This is the highest jump in the number of positive cases on a single day.

A senior IAS officer has also tested positive for the virus, said a late evening report today. According to a press release issued by  COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman , 270 people included 56 personnel of CAPF were tested positive in the last 24 hours. 

According to another late night report, 72 more people  have tested positive. The report of 72 positive cases came in after the official daily bulletin where   270 cases were reported.

214 civilians who have been tested positive, 54 belong to Imphal West, 100 to Imphal East, 29 to Thoubal, three to Tengnoupal, six to Bishnupur, seven to Kakching, three to Chandel, one to Kangpokpi, five to Churachandpur, one to Kamjong, one to Senapati and four to Tamenglong.

Out of them, 205 have no significant history of travelling outside the State.

In the meantime, 49 people were discharged in the last 24 hours.The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the State has risen to 9280 (general population 7266, Central security personnel 2014) .

It includes 2333 active cases (general population 1987, Central security personnel 346) and 6887 discharged cases (general population 5222, Central security personnel 1665).Meanwhile, the recovery rate has further declined to 74.21 per cent.
