
Imphal, Oct 28, 2020: In continuation of crackdown on illegal Manipur Drugs, Bishnupur district police arrested four persons and seized drugs worth 74 Crores in current market value.
Bishnupur district police arrested four persons including a Rifleman of the 6th IRB along with 74 kilograms of brown sugar worth Rs 74 crore today morning at around 6.
Acting on specific input regarding peddling of drugs in Khordak area, a team of Bishnupur police commandos under the supervision of the SP and Additional SP (Law and Order), rushed to the area and arrested three persons including the 6th IRB Rifleman, identified as Phundreimayum Farooque (33) of Phoubakchao Awang Leikai, along with 41 kilograms of brown sugar.
The other two persons have been identified as Chesam Shahrukh Khan (28) of Phoubakchao and Md Rohid (19) of Mayang Imphal Irong.
Further, the team also arrested a fourth person identified as Phundrei- mayum Khalim (54) of Mayang Imphal Bengoon from his residence and seized another 33 kilograms of brown sugar.
All the arrested persons along with the seized brown sugar have been handed over to Keibul Lamjao police station for further investigation and necessary legal actions under the ND&PS Act, said police.
Encouraging the district police to continue crackdown on drugs, the SP on behalf of Bishnupur district police awarded Rs 50,000 to the team led by the Additional SP (Ops) and OC/CDO unit Bishnupur.
