Imphal, Jan 20, 21: Manipur today received the second batch of COVID-19 vaccine Covishield manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII) Pune, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said.
The chief minister said that the state received a total of 48,000 doses of Covishield vaccine, which have been dispatched to the Walk-In Freezer at Directorate of Family Welfare for storage.
“Thanks to Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi ji and Union Health Minister for taking care of Manipuri people. As second time, a total of 48,000 doses (4,800 vials) of COVISHIELD Vaccine in 4 cartons have arrived at Imphal Airport today & have been sent to the Walk-In Freezer at Directorate of Family Welfare for storage under the required controlled temperatures,” CM Biren wrote in social media post.
Manipur had received its first consignment of 54,000 doses of Covishield vaccine on January 14. The state joined the nationwide launch of the vaccination drive on January 16.
On Monday, CM Biren said that over 1,000 people in the state have been administered COVID vaccine and there have been no reports of any complaints of side-effects of the vaccine so far
