Imphal, May 30 2022: The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West today ordered the release of Mark Thangmang Haokip ( Mark T Haokip) who is presently lodged in Manipur Central Jail Sajiwa on furnishing PR bond.
The release order was passed after the counsels of Mark T Haokip (37) of Molnom village, Churachandpur approached the Court to execute the PR bond imposed by the Duty Magistrate, Imphal West on May 27 . Mark T Haokip was also directed to appear before the Court on June 13 .
However, he was re-arrested by Imphal police station in connection with another FIR this evening.
Earlier ,Mark Thangmang Haokip was arrested from Kishangarh, New Delhi on May 24 by a team of Manipur police in connection with three different cases registered against him for making defamatory and derogatory statements on social media, both in Facebook and Twitter, including against freedom fighter Padma Bhushan awardee Rani Gaidinliu.
The accused was brought back to Imphal from New Delhi on May 27 after taking transit remand from a Delhi Court and was produced before the duty Magistrate, Imphal West on the same day late at night.
Mark T Haokip was produced before the Court in connection with FIR No 60 (4) 2021 allegedly for his Facebook post regarding the Merger Agreement with the Union of India. The Duty Magistrate, Imphal West, after hearing the defence counsel and on perusal of the case record, passed an order to release Mark T Haokip on bail on execution of PR bond of Rs 1 lakh and two sureties of same amount.
As the alleged accused failed to furnish the necessary bond, the Court remanded him to judicial custody on May 27 .
Notably two more FIR cases were registered against the accused including FIR case no 205 (11) 2021 for making defamatory statement on social media, both on his Twitter and Facebook accounts, against freedom fighter Padma Bhushan awardee Rani Gaidinliu.
The CJM, Imphal West on May 24 had issued a non-bailable warrant of arrest against Mark T Haokip in connection with FIR No 205(11) 2021 .
After the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West passed an order for release of Mark T Haokip, Imphal police station re-arrested him in connection with another FIR case this evening.
Moreover, another FIR has been registered at Porompat police station against Mark T Haokip yesterday after titular king and Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba lodged a complaint against him.
