Guwahati: The Assam Government has partially modified the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the air and train passengers arriving in the state.

According to the new SOPs for Air-Train passengers arriving in Assam, any person who has undergone a RT-PCR COVID-19 test within a period of 72 hour prior to his/her arrival in Assam and his/her test result is negative, is not required to undergo the mandatory COVID-19 test or quarantine in Assam.

“This exemption is subject to production of satisfactory documents and verification of the test result on the ICMR portal”, the order stated.

Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a press meet on Saturday also said that any person who travel outside Assam and returns back to the state within 24 hours the departure, need not to undergo testing or quarantine. Children below the age of 10 years are also exempted from tests and quarantine if the child is asymptomatic.
