Guwahati: In a major boost to road infrastructure of Assam, Union Minister of Road Transport Shri Nitin Gadkari along with Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid foundation stone for 27 National Highway stone in Silchar on Friday.

The Highway project called ‘Pragati Ka Highway’ is worth over Rs 2,366 crores includes a total length of 439 Kilometers.

In inaugral ceremony, Nitin Gadkari said, “19 more road projects are to be undertaken in Assam. Moreover, the two-lane bridge over the Brahmaputra River will be started next year.”

The project will include building bridges over Krishnai River to connect Meghalaya to the rest of India, strengthening the tourism and socio-economic conditions of the state as well as giving a boost to commercial activities in Mizoram.
