Bishnupur, October 26 2020: Several protestor staged a sit-in protest demanding justice for the September 11 killing of Moirangthem Nilamani in Bishnupur district of Manipur . Protestors demanded befitting punishments for the culprits involved in killing Moirangthem Nilamani . A sit-in protest was held at Bishnupur Maning Leikai Ward no 3, today.
Protestors questioned the State Government to clarify how N Tomba got bail on or before October 31, he cautioned that a bandh will be called in Bishnupur district from the following day (November 1) if the demand is not entertained.
The protestor also asked how Namoijam Tomba was appointed as National Secretary of BMS.
During the protest demonstration participated by family members of victim Moirangthem Nilamani, volunteers of the concerned JAC and local meira paibi, placards that read “Remove N Tomba from Bhartiya Majdur Shanga (BMS); “Killers family cannot stay in the locality”; “Don’t protect the killers” and others were used. Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the demonstration, one of the protestors claimed that the culprit of the case, Namoijam Tomba, got bail recently.
Killing of Moirangthem Nilamani
Earlier 56-year-old man Moirangthem Nilamani was allegedly ‘beaten’ by three persons of a family to death at a farmhouse at Bishnupur on September 11. Later It is reported that the three accused of the case namely Namoijam Tomba (60) of Bishnupur Ward no 3 and his two sons, Sunder (45) and Romesh (34) have surrendered to Nambol police.
