4 Rural Bodies in Sikkim decides to Ban tourist

In contradiction to the Sikkim Government’s decision to end all restrictions on entry into Sikkim starting October 10, the rural bodies in the state have announced their own counter-decision to restrict entry of tourists.  

Lachung in North Sikkim  make an announcement on September 25 banning tourists till November 30. 

On Wednesday, Ribdi-Bhareng GPU under Daramdin constituency, West Sikkim also banned entry of tourists till November 20, 2020. A notice issued on September 29 by the Panchayat President, Phur Lhamu Sherpa, informs that the panchayat along with villagers and homestay stakeholders have decided to restrict entry of tourists into Hilley, Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary and Pattharey from October 1 till November 30, 2020.

On September 28, Assam Lingzey GPU in East Sikkim issued a notice declaring restrictions on entry of international, national, domestic and local tourists till December 31, 2020.  Prior to that on September 27, Yuksam in West Sikkim had announced its decision to ban entry of tourists till November 30, 2020.
