Guwahati: Santanu Kalita from Assam projected India’s 1st Sea-Plane service from the Statue of unity in Kevadia of Gujarat’s Narmada district to Sabarmati riverfront in Ahmedabad.
The seaplane service was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday to mark the 145th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
PM Modi also travelled the maiden seaplane flight to Sabarmati riverfront.
Santanu Kalita, the chief officer of SpiceJet – Sea Plane department has initiated the project of seaplane. He is working as the head of the Sea Plane project of SpiceJet.
The 19-seater seaplane will be used for flights between the Sabarmati riverfront and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Statue of Unity in Kevadia as a part of regional connectivity scheme. The seaplane will be accommodating 12 passengers and ticket will cost Rs 4,800 per person.
The seaplane is a Twin Otter 300 registered in the name M/s Spicejet Technic and be operated by SpiceJet.
The aerial distance between Ahmedabad and Kevadia is around 200 kilometers and the seaplane will take about 45 minutes to cover the distance.
