Thangkhullian was arrested in connection with the November 2021 Singngat ambush killing Army Colonel and his family. A Commanding officer of Assam Rifles, his wife, minor son and four other personnel were killed apart from inflicting injuries to six other Assam Rifles personnel in the deadly November 2021 Singngat Ambush.
