Tripura School girl gang-rape: Four persons including 2 minors held

The victim was on her way to a tutor’s house when the four accused allegedly kidnapped and raped her in North Tripura district on Friday.

Itanagar: In the latest development on the Tripura School girl gang-rape case, four persons including 2 minors were held on charges of kidnapping and gang-raping a minor schoolgirl in North Tripura district, police said on Saturday

As per police, the accused allegedly abducted the girl when she was returning from tuition around 7.30 pm on Friday and gang- raped her.

The matter came to light after the girl contacted one of her known neighbours who took her to the hospital and later the she lodged a police complaint against the accused at Kadamtala police station.

Following the complaint, the Tripura Police nabbed all the accused.

“We arrested two of the accused youths late last night and another two on Saturday. Two of the accused persons are minors. Currently, the rape survivor is undergoing treatment in the hospital,” PTI quoted Dharmanagar sub divisional police officer (SDPO), Soumya Debbarma as saying.

Meanwhile, a five-member special team has been constituted to conduct the investigation.

As per Debbarma, the accused have been booked under section 366 (A) (procuration of minor girl), 376(D) (gang rape) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, 2012.
