Power generation from solid waste treatment plant to start operations soon: Minister MAHUD

Imphal, January 24 2021: Manipur Government Minister for MAHUD has informed that the Waste-to-Power Plant located at Lamdeng will be inaugurated soon. The solid waste treatment plant was connected to grid recently which would enable the transfer of power generated from solid waste management plant.

MAHUD minister inspected the Solid Waste Management Plant, Lamdeng, Imphal West today.

The Minister said that the Waste-to-Energy Plant will be dedicated to the public soon after due consultation with the Chief Minister N.Biren Singh.

MAHUD Minister Henry mentioned that the Power plant would be producing 600KW of electricity in the first phase. The government has successfully done the trial of the power plant and the approval from the Government of India is awaited.

The Minster also said that the government will also set up a mini Solid Waste Management Plant nearby so that more waste can be treated and use resourcefully. During the visit, Henry Okram heard the grievances and problems faced by the people residing in and around Lamdeng area.

He assured that the government will do the needful at the earliest.

Director MAHUD Th Harikumar, OSD Imphal Smart City Plan, other officials of the department and representatives of the local clubs accompanied the Minister during the inspection.
